Weekly Photo Challenge: Culture

Japanese culture is a strange but wonderful mixture of the old and the new, the modern and the traditional. The very same civilization that brought us ikebana and the tea ceremony, karate and sumo, kimono and geisha, sushi and soba (and you’ve probably heard of all of those things) also brought us PlayStation and Nintendo, anime and manga, cosplay and maid cafes, AKB48 and SMAP.  (Don’t feel bad if you’ve never heard of some of those. You’re probably better off that way.)

So when I saw Colonel Sanders done up in samurai armor, and I think he’s wearing a Santa suit under it, I thought that pretty much summed it up. His hands say it all:

“Why? Why y’all doin’ this ta me?”
